Rasa Abhinaya
Rasa abhinaya is a production based on 9 rasa or emotions of our daily life. In our presentation where the narrator is explaining the emotion through Uday Shankar style Dance with an essence of kathakali. This is a dance drama where nine emotions or Rasa are expressed. Navrasa includes are Shringara (love/beauty), Hasya(laughter), Karuna (sorrow), Raudra (anger), Veera ( heroism/courage), Bhayanaka (terror/fear), Bibhatsya (disgust), Adbutha (surprise/wonder), and Shantham (peace or tranquillity).
In Indian aesthetics, the Rasa or emotion directly comes from the soul. As we all know, the dance expresses the soul. Performing art is not the primary goal unless it touches the individual in the audience into another parallel reality full of wonder and bliss. The essence of emotion is crafted here with musical and dance depictions.
The Presentation Rasa Abhinaya starts with a group of young women who were getting ready together and giggling among themselves when suddenly they witnessed a deer who was shot down by a bow by someone and was suffering in pain dreadfully. While they were trying to save the deer, a demon arrives at the scene of which all women got terrorized and ran away getting scared and as an addition of climax, a group of young men arrives there and hunts down the demon. The group of women fell in love with the bravery of these men resulting in the creation of a romantic ambience on stage. The dance drama ends with a peaceful chant which depicts that all’s well that ends well.
